Finland is one of the three less populated countries in Europe, and most of Finns live in the south and eastern part of Finland. Known for its cold weather and its sauna culture, it’s a paradise for winter sports.
Located in northern Europe, with the Arctic Circle crossing the north of the country, you can experience the midnight sun in summer. From late May until the first days of August, it never gets dark. Rovaniemi, the principal city in this area, is also known for being the home of Santa Claus. Every year the city welcomes guests from all over the world who are looking to visit Santa Claus Village.
While you’re in this region, don’t forget to set aside at least one night to enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience of seeing the northern lights. Between the months of September and March, visitors are guaranteed a magical light show on clear and dark nights.
Helsinki, Finland’s capital city, also has several attractions for anyone traveling there. Suomenlinna Fortress is just a 15-minute ferry ride away from Helsinki’s harbor, where you can also visit its Market Square (Kauppatori). Near Helsinki’s harbor, you’ll find Esplanadi, one of the favorite places for the locals to gather on summer evenings.
If you decide to venture outside of Helsinki, visit the medieval city of Turku, the picturesque Porvoo, the industrial Tampere, or the beautiful autonomous archipelago of Åland (or Ahvenanmaa in Finnish), with its approximately 6700 islands of which only around 60 are inhabited.
Whatever you do, don’t waste any money on roaming costs. Buy the best eSIM for Finland and enjoy your trip while staying connected abroad.

Orange eSIM Holidays: Our Top eSIM for Finland
Incredible price per GB
Orange eSIM Holidays is the best eSIM you can get to travel, not only to Finland, but to any other country in Europe. With 30GB for an incredible price per GB of €0,83, you’ll get a Spanish phone number with 15 days to use not only its cellular data but 100 minutes of international voice calls and SMS for an extra credit. Orange eSIM Holidays offers an excellent service to enjoy a perfect trip to Finland.
ID verification
Spanish law requires an identification to use a Spanish mobile phone. It doesn’t matter if you’re using it for a different country in Europe. With Orange eSIM Holidays you can provide it during the purchase process and in a few minutes you’ll have your new eSIM ready. As simple as that.
Airalo Finn Communication
Less data
Airalo Finn offers several data packages for Finland, but the most interesting one is its 10 GB card for €16.80. Providing less data than Orange eSIM Holidays with a validity of 30 days, it offers a price per GB of €1.68. It is also only a data plan, so you won’t get a phone number or any of the other features Orange eSIM Holidays provides.
Eurolink cards
Airalo has regional plans for Europe. Its Eurolink plans provide cellular network coverage in 39 countries in the region. Airalo Eurolink’s best price per GB comes with its 100GB card for about €172. At 1.72 €/GB, you’ll still be better off with Orange eSIM Holidays with its 0,83€/GB.
Nomad
Twice as expensive
Nomad has 4 cards to use in Finland with two of them with 10GB of data and 30 days validity. The cheapest offer in price per GB comes with one of its 10GB cards. For €19, you’ll connect to various network providers.
Being a data only plan, it’s almost twice as expensive as Orange eSIM Holidays in price per GB.
Control through Nomad’s app
Nomad allows its users to manage their eSIMs through its app. With it, you can top up your data needs, or manage any other eSIM you might have bought. As convenient as this is, Nomad’s features don’t justify its prices.
Bnesim One Time card
Overpriced
Bnesim’s One Time cards are overly expensive. For a 20GB card, you’ll be paying €68.60. There’s no point in comparing Bnesim’s cards with Orange eSIM Holidays. Less data, almost three times the price.
Its daily and monthly renewal plans don’t improve the offer that much. For a daily renewal, Bnesim’s best offer is its 5GB plan for a price per GB of €2.56 to renew each day, and for its monthly renewal plans, the best one is 100GB monthly for €158.18, i.e. 1.58 €/GB.
No expiration
The main reason for these prices is that Bnesim’s One Time cards don’t expire. You can use their data allowance for as long as it lasts. Even if you leave Finland and travel back next holiday season, you’ll be able to use what’s left of your data, you’ll just need to top up your eSIM card allowance every six months to keep your account active, but your remaining data will roll over until you can use it.
Holafly
Unlimited
Holafly has one unlimited card with the same duration as Orange eSIM Holidays (15 days), however, its price is too expensive for a data only plan: €47.
No tethering
The main reason we choose Holafly as our least favorite card, is because it doesn’t allow tethering. With Holafly’s cards, you’ll only be able to use its unlimited data for the amount of days you’ve purchased on the device you’ve installed the eSIM. You can forget about tethering your laptop to your phone if you want to work remotely, or sharing your connection with your travel partners.
Purchasing an eSIM for Finland
To buy an eSIM to travel to Finland, or anywhere in Europe, all you have to do is connect to the website of the eSIM provider you like. After the purchase process, you’ll receive an email with a QR code and instructions on how to activate it. After scanning said QR code, you’ll be able to activate your eSIM profile to use its data.
You can do this from the comfort of your couch. No need to go to a store, or to wait for a physical SIM card to arrive in the mail. A few minutes and you’ll have it ready for your next adventure in Finland.
Can my phone support eSIMs?
Compatibility is one of the main issues of eSIMs. For Apple users, you most probably won’t have any problems installing an eSIM in your mobile phone if it is an iPhone XR, an iPhone 11 or a newer model.
It is not yet a standard for android phones. Samsung supports eSIMs only in devices since the Samsung Galaxy S20, Google only offers this technology since the Pixel 3 or the 3 XL, and other mobile phone brands like Huaweii, Oppo or Vivo only support eSIMs on some devices.
The best way to make sure that your device supports eSIMs is to check the eSIM compatibility list that some carriers include in their website or in our list of compatible devices. This is even more important considering the fact that some eSIMs can only be installed on certain devices.
You can also get information about your device’s eSIM compatibility if you contact your phone’s manufacturer or your home carrier.
Mobile networks in Finland: An overview
Finland has 3 mobile network carriers offering service in its territory: DNA, Elisa and Telia. Of those three, DNA stands out for the quality of its services. With the best download and upload speed experience, DNA’s results in cellular network availability falls to a second place in favor of Elisa.
In any case, the three of them stay very close together in terms of availability, so, whichever network your eSIM connects to, you’ll receive a similar service.
In this link you’ll be able to check the network connectivity of the three carriers in Finland.
